PROFESSIONAL STATEMENT

I graduated with a Masters in Counselling degree from HELP University, and I am registered and licensed with the Malaysian Board of Counsellors. At my counselling practice ABRI Integrated Mental Health, I work with individuals, couples, and families. I am a clinical member of the Malaysian Marriage and Family Therapy Association, and the Trauma Therapy Association. Additionally, I am a certified PREPARE-ENRICH relationship and marriage program facilitator.

As a value-add service to specific clients, I am a Certified Coaching and Mentoring Professional, and I am also qualified in the use of the Introduction to The Prevention and Relationship Education Program (PREP) curriculum in my work. One of my interests is providing talks and workshops, both as a professional counsellor and coach to groups and corporate clients, including through Employee Assistance Programs.

I believe every individual is unique, has the capacity for growth and the choice to lead meaningful, productive lives. Every client that walks in the door is facing some form of challenge or trauma in his or her life, and thus, I endeavor to support them to achieve their therapy goals. I consider it a privilege to be allowed into their world to journey with each of them towards healing, change and growth.

After obtaining my Bachelor in Applied Science (Hons, Physics) from Universiti Sains Malaysia in 1994, I started my engineering career in the Semiconductor-Electronics manufacturing industry where I stayed for 20 enriching years working for multinational companies such as Intel, Hewlett-Packard/Agilent, Silterra Malaysia, and later at Infineon Technologies. In the corporate world, I was a technical contributor and later, in people management.

Growing up in Malaysia and having attended the national schools, I appreciate the different races, cultures, and people from all walks of life. For many years, I volunteered in non-profit organizations working amongst the youth, adults, and later with families. My wife and I were married in 1995, and we are blessed with two teenagers, Ryan (16) and Ryna (15). My interests outside of work include being a drone pilot and watching wildlife documentaries.
