I have 14 years of experience working with children, teenagers and young adults with a wide range of concerns including those who have been abused, neglected, experiencing anxiety & depression, parenting problems, diagnosed with non-communicable diseases, under palliative care, grief and bereavement, Autism, ADHD, anger management issues and various other mental health challenges.
Now with an cancer organization, I am providing emotional therapy for children battling with cancer, their siblings and caregivers to express and regulate their emotions in a safe environment nationwide. I have also worked closely with special needs children, as a Special Needs Co-Ordinator and created Individualized Education Plan for students. I enjoyed conducting various workshops nationwide for schools, parents and teachers where they were able to understand themselves in order to be connected with the children. Also, I have developed an inclusive curriculum that cater the needs of every child at home and in school.
My therapy philosophy is based on an acknowledgement of the individual’s background and personal beliefs. I prefer using a person-centred approach emphasizing the importance of the therapist/child relationship, along with a cognitive behavioural approach to allow the child to develop their own perspective of problem- solving and empower them to make changes needed in order to accomplish their goals.
