Before embarking on the counselling profession, I was in the corporate sector for many years holding various positions and portfolios – from Finance & Accounting to Marketing and, most recently, in Business Management. This has given me the opportunity to a work with people from different backgrounds and cultures.
Our life journey is akin to a train ride through different and changing landscapes, seasons, people, routes, milestones, cabin and even baggage. Indeed, it can be both exhilarating and overwhelming as we maneuver through the twists and turns of uncertainties, transitioning to different seasons and milestones, especially when coupled with our own expectations, beliefs, and demands from others of us. At some point in life, we may feel lost, restless, stagnant, conflicted and may have searching questions on life’s direction and meaning. We may need help to unravel our emotions, understand our situation and discover new perspective about it.
My journey thus far has taught me the importance of self-awareness, self-compassion and forgiveness. I believe that challenges are there in our lives to push us towards growth and healing; and everyone has the capacity to do so no matter what the current situation may look or feel like. As a counsellor, I provide clients a therapeutic space that facilitates inner exploration and self-awareness; finding new meaning to their situation and experiment in finding out what works best in overcoming their challenges and living their full potential as everyone is unique.
Out of the counselling room, I enjoy learning new things (currently learning to play the violin), hunting for good food, going for walks, yoga, travelling and reading.
