How to make rational decisions?

The two most notable techniques for this involve using self-distancing language in your inner monologue or visualizing other people’s perspectives when analyzing events that you’ve experienced.

You can create self-distance by referring to yourself in the second or third person ( “What should you do?” or “What would John react to it?”) instead of using the first-person pronoun (“What should I do?”). Work on self-distancing! Thinking about the event from a “third-person” perspective, rather than a self-immersed perspective, can provide you with the needed objectivity to make a rational decision.
