We’re no strangers to striving for being the best (especially if you grow up Asian). We rarely take time for ourselves as we get so worried that we’ll fall behind if we don’t keep trying to improve ourselves and our skills.
As much as practice makes perfect, you can’t force yourself to keep doing something, or else you might face burnout. Taking breaks is essential for us to be efficient and be the best at what we do, though we might feel guilty for doing so. We’re just like batteries: if we keep pushing ourselves forward without taking some time to recharge, sooner or later we’ll run out of juice. In comparison, when we take breaks to recharge and heal, we’ll be able to maintain our momentum.
If you’ve been overworking yourself recently, take this as a sign to take a break and take a breather. Taking care of yourself is always more important than anything else!
