In video games, you level up the skill/spell that you pick up by using it often. There’s no way that you can defeat a boss with something you just learned, but you definitely will stand a better chance at winning once you hone it.
There are times where we put ourselves down just because we feel we aren’t good (or can’t be good) at something, especially when we compare ourselves to others who have mastered it. We see the result of their hard work and dedication but not the process. Nobody is simply just talent; you shouldn’t be afraid to fail especially if it’s something you’re interested in. We need to take that first step to try a new thing out without the fear of failure because that can inhibit us from improving and persevering.
So, pick up that new hobby, learn that new language, try that new game- in the wise words of Jake the dog from Adventure Time, know that “sucking at something is the first step to being sorta good at something”.
